Kami Ring lived in Charlestown but was staying with people she considered grandparents, according to CecilDaily.com.

"She was last seen last night," Trooper Tim Graham of Maryland State Police told Perryville Patch Monday afternoon.

Police sent out phone alerts to community members near where Kami Ring was reported missing, Graham said, and K-9 officers were assisting with the search as well.

"It's still in progress," Graham said of the search Monday afternoon, which he noted included "multiple personnel."
