Bomb Threat Reported at Cecil County Middle School

Students were relocated as a precautionary measure.

School was cut short for students at North East Middle School Tuesday morning after a bomb threat caused administrators to close the school and ferry everyone over to North East High School, according to Cecil County Public Schools.

"Due to a bomb threat reported at North East Middle School, all students and staff are being relocated to North East High School as advised by law enforcement as a precautionary measure," the school system posted on its website.

The evacuation occurred after a student found a note in the second-floor bathroom, according to the Cecil Whig, which reported four students were being questioned in connection with the threat.

"Parents should report to North East High School, where they will be directed to the proper entrance and will follow sign out procedures. Individuals authorized to pick up students should have their photo identification," Cecil County Public Schools stated. North East High School is located at 300 Irishtown Road in North East.

"Students who are not able to be picked up at North East High School will be transported home directly from North East High School at the regular dismissal time," according to the school system. "Should you have any additional questions, please contact North East High School at 410-996-6200."

Dogs from the Maryland State Police bomb squad and Cecil County emergency services personnel were handling the scene at North East Middle School, The Whig reported.
