Conowingo Dam Fish Lift Begins Season

The lift gets fish over the massive Conowingo Dam.

For more than 20 years, the fish lift atop the Conowingo Dam has been helping creatures up and over the structure.

The dam's general manager told WJZ the lift moved 1.1 million fish in 2012 several stories above the Susquehanna River.

Installed in 1991, the device releases water from the top of the dam, creating an artificial current that attracts fish.
